{Pretzel Eaters Club} With over $153 million in domestic sales in 2003, as well as brand representation in 22 foreign countries, Snyder's of Hanover is one of the two largest pretzel producers in the United States. Billed as "America's Pretzel Bakery Since 1909," Snyder's also produces other snack food products— but pretzels are at the core of this private company's continuing success in the competitive snack food market.
So when Snyder's of Hanover (www.snydersofhanover.com) wanted to create a stand-alone Web site for its growing Pretzel Eaters Club, the company selected DSF by Cimbrian as the platform most capable of handling their guest registration and emailing requirements at a reasonable implementation cost.
At over 70,000 names, the Pretzel Eaters Club is an important part of this client's marketing effort. Members of the "club" receive a quarterly email newsletter featuring new product alerts, contests, recipes, and advance notice of coupons in local newspapers. Subgroups also receive samples of proposed new products which they are asked to review.
DSF's standard visitor login and registration feature was a great starting point for what Snyder's wanted to do. Cimbrian’s developers added client-specific fields to the registration form and the underlying database tables to collect information such as snack food preferences. We finished the job by migrating the client's existing email list to DSF, adding fields to existing DSF user registration pages, and moving pages from the client's existing site to the new site at www.pretzeleatersclub.com.
When you visit the site, notice that the DSF poll feature is used to elicit opinions from site visitors. This generates yet another stream of useful data for the marketing staff at Snyder's of Hanover.
